Intelenet opens new centre in Chennai


Intelenet Global Services, a BPO firm promoted by HDFC and Barclays, said on Tuesday it has its new 700-seater delivery centre at Ascendas IT park in Taramani here.

"Intelenet’s new centre will mainly focus on providing back-office processing services to international clients in the banking and financial vertical. Intelenet commenced its Chennai operations a year ago and expects to grow to over 1,000 employees by December," a company release said. Mr Susir Kumar, CEO, Intelenet, said, "Intelenet recognises Chennai and Tamil Nadu as the hub of quality competence."



More medical seats in Bihar


The NDA regime in Bihar has decided to increase seats in all six medical colleges of the state and also set up new ones. According to the government, the move is aimed at stopping the exodus of students from the state.

"A decision to increase seats in six medical colleges of the state has been. The government also plans to construct new medical colleges across the state," chief minister Nitish Kumar told mediapersons. The Bihar government’s announcement to increase seats in medical colleges and also to set up new institutions has come when there is a nationwide hue and cry over the Centre’s decision to provide reservation to other backward caste students in higher education. Health minister Chandra Mohan Rai said his government was trying to upgrade the physical and educational standard of medical colleges in Bihar to stop exodus of students.

"We would try that no seats in the medical colleges were left vacant and were filled on a regular basis," he said.

The state government would soon approach the Medical Council of India for a clearance. Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), Darbhanga, Anugrah Narain Medical College and Hospital (ANMCH), Gaya, and Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital, Bhagalpur, are the six state-run medical institutions of Bihar.



Delhi to be world class city by year 2010


Union urban development minister S. Jaipal Reddy on Monday said that Delhi will be re-developed into a world class city, keeping in mind the Commonwealth Games, 2010. Mr Reddy, while addressing a rally said that the one-year moratorium period will be utilised to re-develop the city, with adequate space given to weaker sections of the society. The rally was organised by the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.

Union minister also announced that majority of recommendations by the Tejinder Khanna Committee report would be incorporated in the Master Plan 2021. On dislocation of jhuggi clusters, Mr Reddy said that slum cluster will be displaced only when there will be a provision for their rehabilitation or in-situ development.

The minister also announced that a pilot project on rehabilitation of slum clusters has been started in the Tehkhand area of the Tuglaqabad and similar projects will be started in other parts of the city. Promising to regularise the unregularised colonies, Mr Reddy said interest of hawkers and people doing business during weekly bazaars will also be considered in the Master Plan.

Also, present on the occasion was Union minister of state, Ajay Maken said that weaker section of the society are also part of the city and the Master Plan will include their rehabilitation as well.

DPCC president Ram Babu Sharma said that the new law, which has halted the ongoing demolition and sealing drive in the capital, should be utilised in making Delhi a well planned city, devoid of illegal structures.
