IBM on Tuesday announced the creation of India/South Asia as its new region in Asia Pacific, which will be headed by its General Manager Shanker Annaswamy.He would act as Region General Manager for the new area and will continue leading IBM's India operations, a company release said here.
The India/South Asia region will also include Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
The company also created ASEAN as a stand-alone region, which will include Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and other territories and will be headed by Ong Hoon Meng, who succeeds D C Chien as the Region General Manager of IBM ASEAN.

A Malaysian airline is offering 1 million airline tickets for free in a publicity bid.The low-fare airline - AirAsia - has kicked off its biggest marketing campaign in the region, under which it will distribute 1 million free tickets online.
The campaign also coincides with the "Visit Malaysia year 2007".
"This is the second major regional free seats campaign we are launching and the timing is perfect to coincide with Visit Malaysia Year 2007," said Kathleen Tan, a spokesperson of AirAsia.

Govt mulls cut in petrol, diesel prices

The government may reduce petrol and diesel prices if the current fall in international oilprices continues and crude declines below USD 50 a barrel level, Petroleum Secretary M S Srinivasan said on Tuesday.
"The fall in international crude prices is of much relief to us. We are closely monitoring the emerging scenario... certainly, we will consider a revision if prices fall further," he told reporters in New Delhi.
In November, petrol and diesel prices were cut by Rs 2 and Re one a litre respectively when the basket of crude that Indian refiners buy was at USD 56.8 per barrel. The Indian basket has since fallen to just under USD 53 dollars per barrel, the lowest this fiscal.
