U21Global broadens academic offerings to fulfil professional aspirations

U21Global, the world's premier online Graduate School, today announced the launch of a new Master of Management in International Business (MMIB) program to meet the aspirations of young professionals.Designed to prepare executives for management and leadership roles in a global economy, the MMIB program offers a focused and relevant curriculum to equip them to contribute to their organisation and the global economy. Through the MMIB program, U21Global aims to develop an alumnus of new global leaders ready to take on the demands of the knowledge-based world. Young professionals who have obtained the MMIB can proceed to articulate toward the Master of Business Administration (MBA).

With the global economy growing at a rate of 3% in 2005 as revealed at the U.N. Conference on Trade and Development, and with Asia contributing to a large percentage of global economic growth, the need for qualified managers with global leadership capabilities in Asia continues to heighten (Jiji Press Sept 3, 2005).

The MMIB program features a holistic learning environment – one that provides an inclusive, highly interactive, authentic and meaningful learning experience that facilitates deep learning. The MMIB program will adopt the same pedagogical approach as taken for the U21Global MBA and MISM programs, both of which incorporate a problem-based approach within an engaging, faculty-facilitated educational environment that

fosters a high degree of collaborative and peer-learning.
The flexibility of this online program allows ambitious new graduates to start building a career immediately while pursuing the Masters program. Although many of the applicants are expected to be employed, the MMIB program is the first post-graduate degree program at U21Global that targets young graduates with limited or no prior work experience.

“Our research has exposed a huge gap in the reach of post-graduate education. There appears to be immediate demand as many graduates have expressed a desire to continue with further education upon graduation of a bachelors degree. In India, for example, 69% of individuals interested in pursuing a post-graduate degree do not meet our managerial experience criteria for the Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in

Tourism and Travel Management and Master of Science in Information Systems Management” said Dr. Helen Lange, Director of the MBA and MMIB programs at U21Global.“The Master of Management in International Business gives young professional graduates an opportunity to develop leadership competencies and International Business acumen through the program, and later use their MMIB studies as credit towards an MBA degree,” added Dr. Helen Lange.Commencing in November 2006, the program will require candidates to complete 12 subjects, with each subject comprising between 120 to 150 hours of study - equating to approximately 10 to 12 hours per week. The program is expected to have an average duration of two years and upon completion, will allow students to

articulate with full credit to the MBA program.

To qualify for admission into the MMIB program, applicants require a first degree from a good university, and work experience is not mandatory. Applicants whose first language is not English will also need an English language qualification (TOEFL or IELTS).
