Passenger car major Maruti on Wednesday said that it will hike the prices of its models by the end of this month. The company said that it is in the process of working out a price revision. Maruti has also launched a "new look" WagonR and a dual-fuel LPG variant of the same.
Maruti managing director Jagdish Khattar said, "We are in the process of working out a price revision and new prices would be announced by the end of this month. The price hike is expected for all models of Maruti cars. The rising input costs as also freight cost is understood to be the reason passenger car makers are going in for price rises."
Hyundai, which is the second-largest carmaker in the country, had also followed Maruti and opted for a price rise across its various models. This included its flagship model, Santro.
Maruti on Wednesday launched a new look WagonR, though it made no changes in the prices as compared to the existing WagonR. However, the company launched a dual-fuel variant of the new look WagonR, which has the option of running on both petrol and LPG.
The prices of the three petrol variants of the WagonR range between Rs 3.23 lakhs to Rs 3.72 lakhs.
