Runaway inflation coupled with monetary tightening by the Reserve Bank could lead to higher interest rates on both the lending and deposit sides, top bankers said.

Railways to invite bids for Pune-Ahmedabad high-speed corridor

Decks have been cleared for inviting global tenders for the pre-feasibility study of a high-speed train on the Pune-Ahmedabad-Mumbai route.
At present, the 660-km-long distance between Pune and Ahmedabad is covered by an overnight journey. The proposed train, expected to run at 300 km per hour on a dedicated fast track, will cut the travel time between the two cities by nearly half.
