Sahr Waru (Women's Action and Resource Unit), Ahmedabad, an organisation working for women and youth's empowerment, gender
justice and social reconciliation in Ahmedabad city and adjoining areas, held a programme in which 65 economically deprived students of some selected schools of the city were given scholarships on Saturday.

Sahr Waru with the support of National Alliance of Women made an effort to support and encourage education especially for girls belonging to socially excluded Muslim and Dalit communities in different areas of Ahmedabad like Vatva, Naroda Patia, Bombay hotel, Ramol and Gomtipur. The organisation also gave certificates to 62 young girls who have completed tailoring course to help them become independent.

Pradeep Koli, 24, was to marry on Sunday. But fate decided otherwise. His marriage procession met with an accident and Koli
landed in the VS Hospital, for treatment.

Koli's happy marriage procession from Sabarkantha to Bhavnagar turned awry as the car in which he was travelling, was hit by a speeding trailer in the wee hours on Sunday. Four persons in the car, including the bridegroom, were rushed to the VS Hospital with grievous injuries around 3.30 am.
