Pooja Parekh is unlike any girl of her age. A student of Class XI Commerce stream, she is also a newspaper vendor.

Every day at 3.30 am she crosses the deserted lanes of Ajwa to reach the Raopura Clock Tower. Amid all the men, she collects around 450-500 newspapers and magazines for delivery to her customers at the Waghodia Road.

As many as 60 Ahmedabad youth have submitted separate affidavits to a lower court that they want to become eunuchs and that their decision is self motivated and not forced upon or influenced by anyone.

In affidavits filed phasewise through out the last year, all the youth uniformly expressed their desire to become eunuchs. Most of these youth belong to the lower economic strata of the society and feel that becoming a eunuch would solve their unemployment problem and give them a better standard of life.

A Couple committed suicide in a hotel room near Ahmedabad airport on Saturday night. The police said they had an extramarital affair and took the extreme step after realising that their families will not accept their relationship.

The two, identified as Ganpat Soni (39), a resident of Bardolpura in Dariapur, and Renuka Khandelwal (32) from Janakpuri Apartment in the Subhash Bridge area, consumed poison in room no 118 of Hotel Taj Palace Ummed. The Sardarnagar police have registered a case of accidental death.
