ACCORDING to a survey conducted by Director General of the Union Labour and Employment Ministry, Gujarat has been ranked first in creating maximum job opportunities and providing employment to the job seekers through the government employment exchange offices fro the fourth consecutive year.
Government spokesmen I K Jadeja and Saurabh Patel said on Wednesday that as per the report, out of the total of 1.73 lakh jobs were made available through 947 employment exchanges across the country in 2005, Gujarat provided the highest number of jobs (over 92,000) through its 42 exchange offices.
Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra ranked second and third in providing 15,300 and 15,000 jobs in their respective states in 2005. For the last four years, Gujarat has retained the first place by providing maximum employment ranging between 46 per cent and 54 per cent in the State.
The report includes only those jobs being provided through employment exchange offices. But Gujarat has also maintained its impressive momentum in providing employment to its people in education, police and health sectors, besides in private sector companies.
The spokesman said that in the year 2005-06, the government, in collaboration with the private sector, had organised as many as 441 mega job fairs across Gujarat, providing 99,333 jobs. Moreover, the government has been creating employment opportunities by offering vocational courses and training programmes in its technical institutes for air-hostesses, ground staff, gas fitters, micro-irrigation technicians, call centres, marine technicians and motor driving.

Gujarat is no. 1 when it comes to employment

There is still some heated debate of the technology for next-generation DVD players, with companies working on their development moving ahead with their strategies. One such company, ARM, has customised its Jazelle software technology for deployment in the Samsung BD-P1000 device, a Blu-ray disc player.
The ARM Jazelle Java Technology Enabling Kit (JTEK ) software is a high-performance technology originally developed for the mobile handset market. ARM Jazelle JTEK software technology enables execution of Java byte code in hardware, offering the
capability to run these new and demanding applications much faster, without compromising efficiency or cost, ARM says. Unlike software-only techniques, acceleration of Java technology as part of the core architecture is highly memory efficient and gives fast start-time and smooth application performance. "With the Samsung Blu-ray disc player, ARM is working to take the same efficient, high-performance Jazelle technology used in so many of the Samsung mobile handsets into ARM Powered home devices," ARM says.
MPEG encoders
Real-time broadcast MPEG encoders are used to compress video and audio content so that less bandwidth is required to transmit the signal. There are many transitions affecting the market for real-time broadcast MPEG encoders. Besides analog transmission systems moving to digital, more content is produced in HD, as opposed to SD. More content transmission platforms are also using H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC Part 10) instead of MPEG-2. All of these are affecting each segment of the market: contribution, distribution, and redistribution or distribution to home. Overall, the MPEG encoder market will grow in terms of video streams, some years more dramatically than others.
Revenues will grow through 2007 with the boost provided by one-time events. Declining ASPs will continue to negatively impact MPEG encoder revenues wit out large shipment increases to offset them, according to In-Stat, a market research firm.
WiMedia
From MPEG, to WiMedia. According to ABI Research, there is no doubt that establishing WiMedia as the high data rate solution for the Bluetooth standard was a wise move by Bluetooth SIG and the WiMedia Alliance. For the Bluetooth community, the higher data rates achieved by WiMedia opened the door to a host of new usage scenarios in the high-value entertainment sector — scenarios previously out of reach for the low data rate.
