State Home Minister Amit Shah told the Assembly on Friday that the Gujarat Police was not supplied bullets for the last three years.

Replying to a question by Leader of the Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil, who cited a CAG report that the Central fund for the Gujarat Police could not be allotted due to delay in submission of proposals, Shah said the state had sent proposals for supply of bullets three years ago, but there was no response to it so far. “We have the guns, but not the bullets,” Shah told the House.

Noise pollution during the Board exams could invite punitive action from the state Environment and Forest Department. Three days ago, the Environment department sent an official communiqué to all district collectors and District Education Officers (DEOs) offering their help in case any disturbance is reported during the day time.

K K Rathod, Ahmedabad DEO, City and Rural, said: The boards have begun and we have decided to coordinate with the local Gujarat State Pollution Control Board (GPCB) officials and the police. Prompt action will be taken in case of a complaint by the parents or the students. We have a help line too.” He said the exams have just started and so far they have not received any complaint in the matter.

Leading state industrialist Gautam Adani, CMD of the diversified Adani group, will bid for the Ahmedabad franchise of the Indian Premier League, said sources.
