Accord eyes $175 mn revenue

Technology firm Accord Software and Systems Ltd today launched a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) solution and expects to earn at least 175 million dollars in the next five years from it.

"The flight safety solution NexNav can be used as a primary navigation sensor in all kinds of aircraft. A NexNav equipped aircraft can avoid collision both in flight and on the ground," Accord CEO and Managing Director J M Sundaresan said.

He said NexNav received certification by the Federal Aviation Administration of the US on November 1.

NexNav is an air-borne GPS (global positioning system) sensor that tracks satellite signals and provides highly accurate position, velocity and time.

The avionics product is priced at 7,000 dollars, he said adding that "on a conservative estimate, we aim to sell 25,000 units in the next five years."

The Bangalore-based company said three entities in the US have shown interest in the product, he said. It has been chosen by aircraft maker Eclipse Aviation, and avionics overseas equipment manufacturers Chelton Flight Systems and L3 Communications.

"We have partnered with US-based Spectralux Corporation for manufacturing NexNav," Sundaresan said.

He said NexNav supports precision approach landing without any airport specific equipment. "Aircraft can fly up to about 60 metres height from the runway using NexNav."

NexNav also tracks signals from satellite-based augmentation system to provide accurate and reliable information, he said.
