The 131st Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath will be taken out in the city on Friday with full religious fervour. It will commence from Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur and pass through the old city areas. Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be present in the temple at the start of the Yatra.
The city police have made numerous arrangements to ensure that the Yatra is peaceful. Apart from deploying a huge force, special traffic arrangements have also been made for the day. The Commissioner of Police, O P Mathur, has declared the area around the Jagannath Temple a “No Parking Zone”.
A number of roads on the Yatra route will be blocked to vehicular traffic. Mathur has appealed the citizens to maintain an atmosphere of communal harmony during the procession and not to follow rumors.
The police have also set up control rooms to be abreast of the latest information regarding the Yatra.
