A construction worker died in a wall collapse in Naroda on Friday evening. The deceased was identified as Arjun Patel, 22, resident of
Banswada in Rajasthan. However, fire brigade officials rescued another worker, Vijay Patel, 26.
Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services officials said, they got a call at 4.45 pm from Vijay Mills compound. "The contractor of Jawahar Aawas building had called up 108 EMRI since he suspected that there were men trapped under the debris," said a fire brigade official.
Vijay was shifted to Shardaben Hospital, from where he was discharged after first aid. However, Arjun was declared dead before emergency medical treatment could be given to him, officials said.
There were five workers at Jawahar Aawas when the building collapsed. A case of accidental death has been registered.
