Three children of a primary school in Maninagar were injured when the autorickshaw they were travelling in, turned turtle near Hatkeshw
ar overbridge on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency medical services were called upon immediately. They provided first-aid to the children on the spot. One of the girls was shifted to LG Hospital and was later released after treatment. No police complaint has been registered in the case.
Local residents, who were witness to the accident, said the autorickshaw driver was Shriram Pandey. He ferries primary school students from Hatkeshwar and Amraiwadi areas to Saraswati Primary School in Maninagar. The incident occurred when a cow suddenly ran onto the middle of the road while Pandey was driving by an overbridge construction site near Hatkeshwar with seven children in the auto. He applied the brakes but was unable to control the three-wheeler.
Pandey blames cattle that are left to loiter on busy roads as the cause of the accident. "I lost control and the autorickshaw turned turtle. I had seven children in the vehicle whom I had picked up from Gokul Bungalows near CTM and Chunilal Park. I was injured in the accident as well. I got bruises on my elbow and leg," said Pandey.
Harshad Patel, a social worker from Hatkeshwar, who was passing by called emergency medical services.
"The ambulance arrived on the spot quickly and treated siblings Drishti, 12, Jaimin Patel, 7 and Krupa Parmar, 12. They had suffered had minor cuts and bruises. Drishti was taken to LG Hospital where she was discharged after dressing," said Patel.
Amraiwadi police station officials said that there was no complaint registered in the case as the families knew the autorickshaw driver and did not hold him responsible for the accident.
