With by-elections for the seven Assembly seats to be held in the state on September 10, aspirants seeking Congress tickets have already started approaching the party bosses.
The seats, for which the by-polls will be held, fell vacant either due to the death or resignation of the sitting MLAs following their elections to the Lok Sabha this year.
Seven Assembly seats of Chotila, Kodinar, Dhoraji, Jasdan, Dehgam, Sami-Harji and Danta will go to polls on September 10.
While Kodinar became vacant after BJP MLA Dinu Solanki won the Lok Sabha elections from Junagadh, Dhoraji and Jasdan became vacant after Vitthal Radadiya and Kunvarji Bavalia won from Porbandar and Rajkot respectively.
Simiarly, Dehgam and Danta seats became vacant with sitting MLA Jagdish Thakor and Mukesh Gadhvi winning the Lok Sabha polls from Patan and Banaskantha seats, respectively.
While Chotila fell vacant following the death of sitting Congress MLA Popatbhai Jinjariya, Sami-Harji seat became vacant after sitting Congress MLA Bhavsinh Rathod joined BJP to contest the Patan Lok Sabha seat, but lost.
Sources in the Congress said that some of the sitting MLAs, who won the Lok Sabha polls, have approached party leaders to demand tickets for their kith and kin.
Senior party leader Arjun Modhwadia said that it was, however, for the party to decide whom to give the tickets. He said that the allotment of tickets would depend on winning criterion rather than anything else.
According to sources, Mukesh Gadhvi has demanded ticket for his younger brother Dinesh Gadhvi from Danta seat, while Kunwarji Bavalia is insisting for ticket for his son Rajesh from Jasdan. Vitthal Radadia is pressurising party leaders to nominate his son Jayesh from Dhoraji.
Koli leaders are demanding ticket for the wife of Popatbhai from Chotila, sources added.
