The state Health Department’s Emergency Medicine and Trauma Education Centre began a three-day workshop at the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on Wednesday.
Titled ‘Role of Sonography in Emergency Medicine and Trauma’, the workshop has been organsiosed in association with the Indo-US Academic Council for Emergency and Trauma.
It is aimed at increasing the knowhow about emerging technologies in the field of emergency medicine.
Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas, who inaugurated the event, said:
“The Health Department is trying to increase the service structure and has been working on modern techniques for emergency medical services. We have also started three-year emergency medicine services course.”
He added: “India has one per cent of all the world’s vehicles and six per cent of the total road accidents in the world occur in this country. By 2020, road accidents would be thrice of what they are at present. So, it is important to build necessary infrastructure.”
