The students applying for the Gujarat Common Entrance Test- 2010 for admission in degree courses in engineering and medical streams are in a dilemma over an instruction regarding returning information brochure with the application form.
The brochure contains detailed information about test syllabus, schedule, test centres and other instructions about the entrance exam to be held in April.
The students said if they return the information booklet, they will be left with no material with themselves regarding important instructions about the test.
The note at the end of the information booklet asks the applicants to submit the completed forms along with the booklets in the same plastic cover in which they are sold at the counters set up by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB).
But when questioned, H M Purohit, Superintendent, GSHSEB and GUJCET In-charge, said: “Students need not submit the information brochure. They need to submit only the filled up forms. The information booklets are meant for students.”
He further said the exam form collection centres must return the information booklets to students in case they have submitted them as per instructions given in the booklet. He said the instructions asking the applicant to return to booklets were printed by mistake.
