Zydus Cadila chairman
is businessman of the year
The
Gujarat Chamber of Commerce awarded the chairman of Zydus Cadila, Mr Raman
Patel, as the "Gujarat Businessman Award" for the year 1999-2000.
The award is in recognition
of his outstanding contribution towards the growth and development of
the pharmaceutical industry, research and education in India.
A panel of jurists, headed
by Gujarat Legislative Assembly speaker Dhirubhai Shah selected Mr Raman
Patel.
The other members of the
jury include V.R.S. Cowlagi, MD Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation,
P.K. Chanda, CGM of Gujarat Telecom, Madhav Mehta, CGM of State Bank of
India, Kamlendra Kanwar editor of the Times of India, and Chinubhai Shah
as the convenor of the committee.
Raman Patel is associated
with several institutions at the state and national level.
He was the president of Indian
Pharmaceutical Association in the year 1988-1990. He is also associated
with Several education institutions and cultural organisations such as
Pharmacy Council of India, L.M. College of Pharmacy Ahmedabad, A.R. College
of Pharmacy Vallabh Vidyanagar, Charutar Vidyamandal and Sardar Seva Samaj.
