in China
An interactive session, "Business Opportunities in IT with China," was
held on Wednesday for evaluation of a strategy to tackle the perceived
threat and also the opportunities that China poses for Indian businesses.
Organised by the Confederation
of Indian Industry, the session was held after a recent delegation led
by Mr. Rajiv Ratna Shah, Secretary IT and CII members visited China, according
to an official release.
The economic scenario in India
and China was the same before 1979, the year they started liberlisation
and now the variation stands two to five times in China's favour, J.S.
Rana, Secretary IT, government of Gujarat said.
About the China's emergence
as an economic superpower, Mr. Rana said it was due to the transformation
of China as a manufacturing hub and the fact that the country had concentrated
equally on developing the brick and mortar industry as a hi-tech industry
like IT. India should cooperate with China and engage the country for
its development, he added.
Sunil Parekh, Senior Director
CII, who made presentations covering an overview of China's economic growth
and Chairman CII Gujarat council Mukesh Patel were also present at the
session.
