Ahmedabad : The recent hike in the prices of diesel and CNG has forced Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) to increase bus fares with immediate effect. The 5.32 per cent hike in fares will absorb to some extent the annual financial burden of Rs 51.47 crore on the corporation, according to a statement.
The release said this was necessary to maintain the level of services like luxury buses, Gurjarnagri, CNG, sleeper coach and air-conditioned coaches. Keeping in view the general public, there is hike of just Re 1 in local bus service fare upto 60 km and no hike beyond 60 kilometre.
