Major Rushikesh Ramani Memorial Trust on Sunday launched a website in memory of Major Ramani who laid his life for country fighting terrorists in Kupwara last year. Not just a tribute, the website, www.majorrushikeshramani.org, has been launched to inspire and guide the youth to join armed forces.
“We want Rushikesh to be alive in the hearts of every Indian. The aim of this website is to motivate Gujarati youths to join defence forces. And for this, we have a panel of experts who will guide them,†said Major Ramani’s father Vallabh Ramani. On the occasion, the trust also honoured families of four martyrs who were killed in anti-insurgency operations last year.
The trust will also provide information and guidance to parents to admit their wards to Sainik School. The sainik school students who achieve higher ranks in studies, games and other activities will be given assistance through awards, scholarships and prizes in the name of Major Rushikesh Ramani.
A 15-minute film on the life of Major Ramani moved the hearts of the audience. Major General SK Jha, GoC Golden Katar Division, along with Colonel Amarjeet Singh, Balachadi Sainik School Principal, and Retd Colonel Vinod Falnikar attended the ceremony.
On July 6, 2009, Major Ramani, along with a jawan and a junior commissioned officer, died when 10 militants opened fire at them. But before succumbing to terrorists’ bullet, Major Ramani killed three militants.
