Rain
in parts of South Gujarat, Saurashtra
The
South West Monsoon, which was late in coming to the tip of Gujarat by
three days this year, caused scattered rainfall in some parts of South
Gujarat and Saurashtra on Tuesday.
The
monsoon has advanced towards Veraval, Mahuva Vadodara and Amravati and
will continue to the north.
The Meteorological Centre,
Ahmedabad, on Tuesday issued a Press release saying that the South West
Monsoon had advanced in the southern parts of the northeast Arabian Sea,
south of latitude 21 degree north, in the southern parts of Saurashtra
and the northern part of South Gujarat region.
While a normal monsoon touches
Kerala on June 1, reaches Mumbai on June 10 and covers Gujarat by June
30, this time it will be a few days late.
"Conditions are favourable
for advance of the South West Monsoon in some more parts of Saurashtra
and Gujarat region," said the city’s Meteorological Centre Director, adding
that this would happen in the next two to three days.
