Exhibition of fine
prints at Kanoria
An
exhibition of prints was inaugurated at the Contemporary Art Gallery of
the Kanona centre on June 25. The artists currently working there are
Anila Vadgania and Aurogeeta Das.
Unlike
painting, printmaking involves many foreign elements like chemicals. The
uses of various techniques contribute to make the printing perfect.
‘Straight walk’ is one of
Vadgania’s prints, which exemplifies line construction by showing a tree
with its character. This grey print discloses Vadgama’s keen perception
of growth in all directions by showing the tree with its peculiar characteristics
of growth in space. Apart from this, her other works are also created
in layers of colours, with butter paper and cloth.
Aurgeeta Das’ work shows
the artist’s inner expressions rather than the technicalities of printmaking.
In Aurogeeta’s subjects and titles one can see the struggle of creation,
in which process music comes to her aid. This importance of music can
be felt through her repeated use of string instruments.
