Alpha Guiarati channel
to go on air from Tuesday

after the successful launch of Alpha Marathi, Alpha Bangla and Alpha Punjabi
and recently two English channels, have now announced the launch of its
24-hour Alpha TV Gujarati beginning March 11.
Sharing the channel’s look
with a select audience at Fortune Hotel Landmark, Madhvi Mutatkar, deputy
CEO regional and English channel said, "Through our years of experience
we have seen that people fall back on regional languages and would love
to see something that essays their region’s language and culture. Since,
we already had a stable base with the main network, a need was felt to
have region specific channels."
The channel would reflect
the culture, colour, passion, personalities, Interests and ethos of Gujarat
and Gujaratis. Commenting on competition from Doordarshan and Gurjari
(a new channel launched recently), Mutatkar said, "I do not see any competition
from either of them.
For the moment, the channel
has a couple of family soaps like Vansh (starring Dharniesh Vyas),
Shraddha (starring Falguni Parlkh, Apara Mebta), Chal Maari
Saathe 0 Jindagi (starring Arvind aidya, Manish Purohit), Asha
(starring Padma Raani, Vipra Rawal) and Mast. The channel is
also hoping to have a lot of mushairos, musicals and natak
which are very popular in Gujarat . The first play, Kshan Vata
Kshan starring Sarita Joshi will be telecast on March 26.
Besides plays, Gujarati blockbusters
such as Machu Tara Vehta Pani, Sat Na Parkha, Naseeb Ni Balihari, Mehandi
Rang Laagyo would be telecasted. The channel is also looking forward
to regional events like Navratri which they promised would be telecast
live and given due importance.
