Lino Prints, an artistic
balance of black and white:
An
exhibition at Contemporary Art Gallery, organised by Kartik Shukla for
the foundation, has on display lino prints by various artists, done during
a workshop held at the CN College of Fine Arts by the foundation recently.
The displaying artists include
Walter D’Souza, Hindol Brahmbhatt, Punit Kalawadia, Keta Shah, Jalpa Thakkar,
Niranjan Trivedi, Dipal Makwana, Anant Mehta, V.Solanki, Neha Suthar,
Pooja Shroff, Baladev Purabiya, Neepa Modi, Gayatri Solanki, Bharat Panchal,
Jayesh Shukla, Alpesh Patel, Rajeshwari Kadia, Bharat Patni, Poonam Sharma,
Sarika Mehta, Saliesh Kansagara, Shraddha Chib, Jitu Oghani and Narendra
Makwana.
Each
of the artists has worked on different topics in order to facilitate the
limitations offered by this age-old technique of printmaking.
Using the space to balance
the white of the paper and black of the print, the artists have expertly
come up with interesting illustrations.
Like in the case of Niranjan
Trivedi, who has done a detailed work on arts titled Feast. He has taken
into consideration the minutest of lines that have been well imprinted,
depicting three ants feasting.
Walter on the other hand
has on display Back Home, which depicts a man resting on an armchair.
He has made use of the entire canvas while using lines to depict the very
feeling of home.
Jalpa has worked on a boy
sitting on a charpoy, all covered up in a blanket. Using the lino technique,
she has also gone into showing the details of woven basket, the charpoy
and a detailed background.
