AMC , Auda chiefs asked to remain
present for hearing
The Gujarat high court on
Monday directed the municipal commissioner of ahmedabad Municipal Corporation
and the chairman of Ahmedabad Urban Development authority to remain present
in person before the court on Tuesday, in connection with the impending
hearing on several cases involving these authorities.
According to sources, municipal
commissioner K. Kailashnathan and Auda chairman Surendra Patel will report
at the court on Tuesday morning.
Mr. Kailashnathan told reporters
at Ahmedabad that he will personally be present at the court on Tuesday.
Sources also confirmed that Surendra Patel will also be present for the
hearing at the high court.
The high court on July 24 while hearing
PIL had directed the AMC and Auda to sever the water and drainage connections
to all the high rise buildings that do not comply to the fire safety regulations
as stipulated by the state.
The high court had entrusted
the responsibility of the execution of the order to the AMC and the Auda
which were not complied with.
However, the AMC submitted
in its reply and demanded more time for installation of fire safety mechanisms
in the buildings.
Moreover, other petitions
like the illegal construction, nonavailing the building use permission
by several buildings in the posh areas of C.G. Road and the subsequent
AMC inaction are also pending.
All the cases pertaining
to the illegal construction in civic limits, its regularisation and similar
cases pending in the lower court have been transferred to the high court.
