BJP begins kar
seva to rebuild quake-hit houses
The
kar seva programme announced by the BJP to re-build houses in the quake-affected
areas would commence from April 2 in 30 different talukas. The kar sevaks
from different parts of the state left for their respective destinations,
according to an official press release. The kar sevaks would give shramdaan
for the next seven days in villages assigned to them.
The BJP has designed a compact
programme that would be conducted in three phases. In each phase, the
kar sevaks would work for seven days. In the first phase, the BJP would
take up 100 villages in 30 worst effected talukas of the state. Around
25,000 BJP members would give shramdaan and devote quality time
during the first phase.
A team of four to five members
would be formed as per the ground realities and requirements of an affected
village, BJP spokesman Jagdish Bhavsar said.
In the second and third phase,
the number of kar sevaks to be sent to the affected villages would be
increased. "The BJP would try to cover all disaster-hit villages in the
next two phases," he added.
Mr Bhavsar claimed that a
rush was witnessed at every district office of the BJP to participate
in the kar seva. "We expect that the figure of kar sevaks would rise above
the one-lakh mark," he added.
The BJP has also invited
social organisations, doctors, engineers who wish to join in the kar seva
to give shramdaan. "The kar seva is not to be affair of BJP," he
added. Meanwhile, top state and national level leaders of BJP will also
join the kar seva.
