to consider granting affiliation to 44 colleges
The
Need Committee of the Gujarat University (GU) is holding two special meetings
with presentatives of about 44 different colleges from Gujarat to consider
granting them affiliation from the forthcoming academic session.
These meetings to begin from Wednesday would ascertain and assess their
records for eligibility. here colleges are already running various degree
and post-graduate degree programmes.
The proposal lists six BBA
colleges, 19 BCA colleges and two CA colleges. Of these, four BBA, 11
BCA and one MCA college is from Ahmedabad. Besides, the her institutes
which have offered
Science, Arts and Commerce
courses, five colleges have sought affiliation for Arts and Commerce,
11 institutes have offered to start only Commerce and one institute in
An-jar has proposed to start a Science, Arts and Commerce institute. Representatives
of these groups would meet the Need Committee on May 31.
Once the Need Committee has
assessed these institutes, its recommendation would then be forwarded
to the Academic and Executive Council for consideration. It is after these
two bodies approve of the institutes will the process of granting affiliation
complete. This the students fear would take place only around August,
considering the pace with which, the university is expected to function.
