Changes
needed in cooperative sector: CM
Chief
minister Narendra Modi has called for stringent measures to bring about
qualitative changes in the cooperative sector to ensure that the state
regains its pride in the sector.
Addressing the concluding
session of ‘Sahakar Saptah’ here on Tuesday, Mr Modi announced that a
necessary ordinance would be promulgated to strengthen the cooperative
sector and a comprehensive cooperative policy would be formulated to help
common man reap benefits in future.
Mr Modi deplored that the
state was a model state as far as the cooperative movement was concerned
but failed to project in proper perspective that the cooperative sector
was an effective means for economic growth. He lashed Out at people with
vested interests who have brought a bad name to the cooperative sector
and called upon genuine leaders to carry forward the cooperative movement.
Describing ‘Samras Gam’ as
the 'real brother of cooperative sector', Mr Modi said that development
of villages depended on unity. The cooperative sector also aimed at development
and if the forthcoming panchayat election was held by consensus, it would
bring desired results, he claimed.
