Proposal
for post-graduate course accepted by GAU
The
Academic Council of Gujarat Agricultural University (GAU) in its recently
held meeting at Sardar Krushinagar (Banaskantha) has approved the proposal
for starting an international postgraduate course in Agricultural Business
Management.
Vice-Chancellor of GAU Dr.
M H Mehta said the university has decided to review the changes in syllabus
and course curriculum in various faculties such as Dairy Technology, Veterinary
Science and Home Science. These, Mehta said, have been observed to meet
the challenges and future requirement. It has been observed from the list
of students admitted last year that bright students with higher percentage
of marks have opted for veterinary science and dairy technology including
agriculture, Mehta said. Emphasising on the need for starting an International
Agricultural Business Management Course, Mehta said the university had
to keep the changes in the world scenario in mind and the course will
have a large component of e-commerce.
He said the GAU will also
consider collaboration with national and international agencies for such
courses. He even hinted at the use of GAU’s satellite Krushi Gosthi. Mehta
said necessary provisions will be made in the rules for NRI students who
can be admitted. through reserved seats allotted to them for various degree
courses.
