Crackdown on polluting units

The vigilance team of Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) cracked down on polluting industrial units in Vatva on Thursday. Officials found five industrial units discharging highly acidic effluent into the Khari. Thursday’s operation was part of the pollution control board’s ongoing drive against industrial units. A First Information Report (FIR) has also been filed against the factories.

In another incident, a chemical unit in phase II (two) of GIDC Vatva was also caught discharging acidic effluent into a pipeline near Janta Service Station near Cadila Bridge at Jashodanagar through a tanker (GQA-5698). The service station drainage line is connected to the AMC pipeline, GPCB sources said. The Vatva GIDC police have registered an offence against the tanker owner, Capital Carrying Corporation and seized the tanker.
