MLM scam: Rana bail plea adjourned
The
Ahmedabad sessions court on Friday deferred the hearing of bail application
of the main accused in the multi level marketing scam, Zahir Rana till
July 15.
Zahir
Rana, owner of Remo Marketing was arrested by the economic offences wing
of CID (Crime) for duping people in the name of multi level marketing
schemes on May 25.
Special
public prosecutor Chetan Shah argued that cheques worth more than Rs 2
crores issued by Rana had bounced and the complainant had to go to Rana’s
office to collect his cheque. Mr Shah argued that the intention of Rana
behind floating his scheme Recharge4free.com was to lure people and induce
them to bring more clients. The prima facie evidence against Rana was
that he could tamper with the evidence if he is released on bail.
Meanwhile,
the court also instructed the police to allow Sajid Rehan another accused
in the scam to see his son who is not keeping well. It may be recalled
that his servant allegedly killed Rehan’s wife.
Noticeably,
Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi’s brother Prahlad Modi was
reportedly present in the court premises during the proceedings of MLM
scam case.
