AMC decision on Sabarmati project soon
A
special meeting of the AMC standing committee will be held on Monday to
finalise board of directors for the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation
Limited. The meeting has been called on the request of the municipal commissioner
R.K. Tripathi.
Sources
in the AMC said as per the company rules it is mandatory to hold the meeting
of board of directors of the company at regular intervals. This time the
meeting is to be held before July 31, but the AMC standing committee has
not approved the new directors appointed by the state government so far
in the board, the sources added.
The
state government had directed the AMC to appoint municipal commissioner
as chairman of the company, mayor and leader of the Opposition in AMC
as its directors. Other names suggested by the state government, as directors
of the company are secretary urban development department, Ahmedabad district
collector, Auda chairman Surendra Patel, technocrat G.N. Tale and R.N.
Vakil and industrialist Chintan Parikh.
However,
the proposal was pending with the standing committee since one and half
months, as the Congress wanted mayor as the chairman of the company. Sources
revealed that the Congress might reject the government proposal or only
appoint a couple of directors so that the company cannot be terminated.
