The Gujarat University
on Tuesday issued a notice to Som-Lalit Education and Research Foundation
run commerce college who did not cooperate with the monitoring committee.
The
college did not furnish the details regarding the admission procedures
adopted by it, said vice chancellor A.U. Patel.
The
committee, empowered by the university, to look into the possible irregularities
in the admission process by self-financed institutes, visited H L Commerce
College and Som-Lalit College on Tuesday for the first time.
As
demanded by the committee, H L Commerce college furnished the details
but Som-Lalit College refused to cooperate with the visiting team and
even misbehaved with the officials, Mr. Patel informed.
A
student had complained to the university that Som Lalit College did not
admit him in B Com course despite his name figuring in the merit list.
The college even prepared a merit list of about 1,700 students as against
its approved intake for 520 seats.
The
university will take strong action against college authorities if it fails
to furnish the details to monitoring committee, he added.
The
eight-member committee headed by former vice chancellor of Gujarat University
M.N. Desai comprises president of principals association Vadi Patel, noted
literate Balchandra Joshi and director of Asia College Sourabh Choksi
as members among others.
