Reliance Industries Ltd chairman and managing director Mukesh Amhani, who was in the city for the inauguration of Infocom 2004, organised by Nasscom and Business World, on Wednesday, maintained a distance from media persons. By doing so, he kept the issue of the spat between the siblings of the Reliance group in the throes of speculation. |

Mr. Ambani has announced a series of investment plans for West Bengal, including a solution development and service centre over the next_ three years. “Reliance Infocomm has already invested close to Rs. 1,000 crores in the state which I feel is not enough. We will set up a solution development and service centre in Kolkata which will provide employment to over 2,500 people," he said.
Mr. Ambani also said that the company would set up a Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, in Kolkata. This institute will help generate employment and provide training to the youth, Mr. Ambani said. "It will ‘powerfully propel India to global leadership in today's world of information and knowledge," he added.
"Kolkata is now known to be one of the most dynamic IT hubs in the country, making it attractive for all the IT companies to join hands with the state government and explore opportunities. Infocom has also played a great role in uniting the billion dollar IT industry under one roof and help in making India the most desired destination for the sector,” Mr. Ambani said.
