Reliance Infocomm has served notices to several AMC corporators for nonpayment of mobile bills, each of which runs into thousands of rupees. All the corporators have refused to pay their bills after using the mobiles extravagantly claiming that the company was supposed to give them concessions. Apparently, the AMC had not charged anything from the company, when it was laying underground cables in the city, in lieu of concession in the use of mobiles.
This is the first bill after the AMC opted for the services of Reliance Infocomm instead of Hutch, six months back. Most of the corporators said they did not expect to pay the bills and were under the impression that the AMC will bear the expenses.
It is learnt that municipal commissioner has issued a missive to all the corporators to pay up the bills. Reliance has deputed two officials to the AMC for the settlement of the dues.
Corporator Imran Khodawala said all the corporators are ready to pay the amount if the company gives concession to the corporators as promised.
