MSU vision of Y2K woman

So, the news is finally out. The millennium has truly bitten us, Indians. Lock, stock and barrel.

Who ever thought about giving shape to women in the next millennium?

What should they be like? Well, the Association of Home Management Alumuni of MS University’s the Faculty of Home Science certainly has an answer or three about it.

The association will conduct a trade fare and has chosen topics which it feels should be part of the next millennium woman.

The Head of Home Management Department Veena Gandotra said, "We have distinguished certain topics which we think should be inculcated in women to make a difference."

Gandotra explained that according to the concept, women of the next millennium should have a functional and well-equipped kitchen.

"They need a well-designed kitchen where everything is within accessible range.

"It should be completely equipped with modern household appliances which reduce the amount of time and energy involved in cooking," Gandotra said.

Gandotra added that the kitchens should have economical and efficient lighting to avoid harming the eyes.

"But, most importantly, women of the millennium should wear professional-looking clothes, which do not come in the way of work and give them a prim and precise look," she said.

The HoD added that food, partially or wholly cooked, would be of great help to women of the next millennium and things like instant food mixer will drastically reduce cooking time.

Among other things the new millennium women also need computerised management of household finance, recipes and a diary of important events.

Computer-aided decoration would also be possible.

"Women definitely need to mobile and they should have some mode of transport and also be equipped with better modes of communication," Gandotra said.
