Vadodara talukas to be
linked by computers
The
Vadodara district administration will be fully computerised and connected
to all its talukas by March 2000. According to district collector Anil
Mukim, the project will cost around Rs 75 lakhs.
Mr Mukim said that the district
administration will be equipped with 45 computers, 25 printers and at
least eight Internet servers. He said, "The staff is already trained and
the programming of the computer for different departments has also been
done."
Mr Mukim said data compilation
will be completed by April 2000." Karjan, Chota Udepur and Vadodara rural
talukas are already computerised and other three talukas will get the
facility soon, he added. Mr Mukim said that computerisation will provide
an easy access to services of the district administration to the general
public. He said, "The functioning every department will become transparent
after they are linked. People will be able to check the administrative
process in different department. The process which was taking months to
get completed would be done in few days’ time."
The district administration
will also hold a special workshop on December 29 at the university auditorium
on "Field administration in the Next Millennium."
Mr Mukim also said a team
of five computer experts will visit all the talukas and give technical
support to government officials. The district administration will spend
Rs 175 lakhs for programmes under the model scheme.
