Vadodara talukas to be linked by computers

The Vadodara district administration will be fully computerised and connected to all its talukas by March 2000. According to district collector Anil Mukim, the project will cost around Rs 75 lakhs.

Mr Mukim said that the district administration will be equipped with 45 computers, 25 printers and at least eight Internet servers. He said, "The staff is already trained and the programming of the computer for different departments has also been done."

Mr Mukim said data compilation will be completed by April 2000." Karjan, Chota Udepur and Vadodara rural talukas are already computerised and other three talukas will get the facility soon, he added. Mr Mukim said that computerisation will provide an easy access to services of the district administration to the general public. He said, "The functioning every department will become transparent after they are linked. People will be able to check the administrative process in different department. The process which was taking months to get completed would be done in few days’ time."

The district administration will also hold a special workshop on December 29 at the university auditorium on "Field administration in the Next Millennium."
