Under
its ambitious plan to introduce e-governance in the State, the government
expects to complete the process of setting up an IT connectivity backbone
network linking taluka/district places with the State Secretariat by May
next year with the help of Department of Telecommunication (DoT).
This was stated by Chief
Minister Keshubhai Patel while addressing a conference of the heads of
various government departments held here on Monday. The conference was
organised by the Gujarat Informatics Limited (GIL) to apprise the chiefs
of these departments of the e-governance process initiated by the GIL.
Patel informed senior officials
at the conference that the GIL had already prepared as many as 15 common
software application modules under the e-governance programme and the
process of preparing IT solution provider panels would be over soon. Once
the e-governance is introduced, it will make the State administration
more transparent and efficient.
Science and Technology advisor
to the Chief Minister N V Vasani said that common software modules prepared
by the GIL related to works of registry, accounts, employees establishment,
file tracking, inquiry, pension, court cases, worksheets, tumar, budget,
annual plans, MPs’ and MLAs’ problems, besides people’s complaints.
