Getting office inside the living room

This 29-year-old Calcuttan had a dream when he was 23. Based at London, he played a role in providing consultancy to none other than Ministry of Defence, United Kingdom. Paramesh Banerji and his brain-child www.indiaisonline.com is now in Ahmedabad after opening shop in Mumbai and Bangalore. As for him, he manages the entire operation from its headquarters in New York.

The first real ‘virtual office’ in the country, christened as iWorkstation is positioned as a cyber-ready office for travelling executives, consultants, men in sales profession, self-employed professionals and what not, even journalists.

On Tuesday, state minister for information technology, Bimal Shah, inaugurated the state-of-the-art cyber workstation at Gartik House in Navrangpura area wherefrom it will initiate its operation in the state.

While Shah praised Banerjee's acumen saying, ‘This unique concept is going to add another feather to the hat of the cyber circle of the state,’ the CEO said, ‘We are investing $50-$60- million In the country and is perhaps the only one with such a strong focus on technology and quality innovations.’

Banerjee said, "Apart from offering all the facilities and services required for a day’s work, viz an independent workstation with dedicated telephone lines, STD/ISD, fax, photocopy, personal computers etc., the iWorkstation also promises an ultra-modern office ambience, for professionals to enjoy a comfortable yet serious work environment."

Banerjee says, "It would be highly appealing to students and graduates for completing their projects, doing research or to register and access the range of distance learning courses offered by iLearn, the training and education section of iLearn, is completely revolutionising the traditional and orthodox education system by pioneering the concept of Online Education, which is called by us iLearning," the CEO added. Interestingly, the courses to be offered through iLearning not only would be appealing to students, it would be appreciated by working professionals, who find it difficult to squeeze out time from their hectic schedule. "iLearn will also offer expert career options and guidance in terms of value-added information," Banerjee said on Tuesday.

But the list of its offering is lengthy. It would work as a platform for providing the array of highly innovative products and services offered through its website.

The first-ever comprehensive Internet company in the corporate records in the country, it can boast of a suite of unique product offerings that are essentially first of their kind in India and has entirely revolutionised the way Internet is looked at in India.

"Our prime objective is to make the Internet relevant to the entire population. We intend to do so primarily by making the existing business processes simpler through the Internet, setting up the iWorkstation is just one of the cogs in the wheel," Banerji said while explaining that the strategy made for India by the company was taken only after ten months of painful research. The company which started rolling in April 3 already has its Asia headquarters in Calcutta while branch offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and now at Ahmedabad also.

Having its global headquarters in New York, the company also has a plan to set up its presence in 140 locations in India by the end of this year.
