Assembly session
costs Rs 1.78 lakhs per day
The daily expenditure of the legislative
assembly session comes to around Rs 1.78 lakhs. However this expenditure
is minimal compared to the welfare work done in the legislative assembly
and also compared to the expenditure of legislative assemblies of other
states.
The legislative assembly incurs mainly two types of expenditures, namely
planned and non-planned. The planned expenses include the maintenance
of assembly campus, electricity, air-condition, salaries of the workers,
security guards and the salaries paid to the employees employed on daily
wages. The non-planned expenditure is incurred mainly when the session
is in progress.
It include the travel expenditure,
daily allowance, petrol bills of the MLA’s, the electricity bills of the
central air conditioning in the house and the additional electricity expenditure.
The total daily expenditure
of the legislative assembly when the house is in session is around Rs
1.78 lakhs that includes about Rs 1.20 lakhs of planned expenditure and
about Rs 58,000 of non-planned expenditure. Every MLA receives Rs 10,000,
Minister receives Rs 11,000 and the leader of opposition receives Rs 11,500
monthly as salary. Travelling expenses paid to the MLA’s includes four
rupees per kilometer for car and The daily allowance comes to Rs 150.
