Relief work in quake-hit areas satisfies ADB team

The delegation of the Asian Development Bank has expressed satisfaction over the progress made in various programmes are being carried out under the $ 350 million rehabilitation and reconstruction project in the quake affected areas in the state.

According to an official release, the mission delegation headed by Mr. Paulman of the Asian Development Bank and its project implementation partner and India’s representative Mr. Anildas held a courtesy meeting with Chief Minister Narendra Modi here on Thursday. The meeting discussed the implementation of various projects aided by ADB loans in the state. The ADB has granted nearly $15 million for construction of roads in rural areas and $ 20 million for construction and rehabilitation in the quake affected areas with the participation of voluntary organisations.

The bank has also granted a loan of $15 million for livelihood for quake-affected people. While lauding the efforts of the state government in restructuring of power sector, Mr. Paulman said that the ADB has undertaken one million dollars project for power sector restructuring in the state.
