Implement action plan as per war book manual: CM

In the wake of a possible war on international front and the state having a sensitive border, chief minister Keshubhai Patel has ordered an immediate implementation of the action plan here on Tuesday. The home department has prepared the plan according to precautionary and security steps mentioned in the War Book manual.

In a high level meeting with minister of state for home and border security Haren Pandya and senior secretaries of various departments, Mr. Patel gave an outline of how the state government will be helpful to the Air force, Navy and Army of the country. Mr. Patel said that in order to make spy agencies more effective, joint co-ordination between the state, Centre and security agencies of the army will be made.

The action plan of the state home department detailing the steps that will be taken by the concerned departments for internal security and other security arrangements was reviewed in the meeting. The home department will act as nodal department for the implementation of the action plan. Moreover, the action plan is made by combining the guidelines mentioned in the War Book manual of state and the Centre.

The chief minister also gave detailed instructions on precautionary and security arrangements to be made in case of a war breaking out during the meeting. Further, he instructed that all the departments to review any steps that they take in the public interest, apart from those mentioned in the War Book manual.

The chief minister and minister of state for home also gave a explicit directions regarding emergency arrangements in sensitive places and steps for security arrangements taken by the revenue department, home, civil supplies, public health, water supplies, urban development, industries and general administration departments.

Chief secretary, G Subbarao also informed the participants of the meeting about the co-ordination of industrial and human force security arrangements, emergency arrangements by revenue department and civil defence and security arrangements done by home department according to the guidelines of War book.
