In a bid to usher in normalcy in the state and facilitate peace process, the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry has organised a peace march on Sunday. GCCI president Kalyan Shah said on Thursday, that Defence Minister George Fernandes will also take part. He said invitations have been sent to a large number of people, including ministers at the state and national level. He claimed that Chief Minister Narendra Modi has also been invited. Mr. Shah said Union Home Minister L.K. Advan and Union Law Minister Arun Jaitely are also likely to take part in it.

The peace march will commence from Manilal Mansion, Kalupur and pass through Relief road. It will end in a public meeting at Sardar Baug, Lal Darwaja. Eminent Gandhian and ex-speaker of state Legislative Assembly will head the march. Political leaders, state and central ministers, religious leaders, bureaucrats, professions, industrialists, workers and citizens from different walks of life will attend the march, he stated.

He further said the idea of the march is also to also allay the growing concern of the international community about the situation in the state. Mr. Shah said the communal violence has affected business climate adversely and also the confidence of the investors.
