Medicos treat patients in tents
It
was an OPD with a different at VS Hospital on Thursday. As, instead of
going towards the causalty ward, patients were directed to the make -
shift tent erected in the premises of PD Doctors' Hostel in the hospital
compound.
The hospital's casualty ward
log book showed less than a 100 OPD cases, while this parallel OPD run
by junior doctors claims to have treated 333 patients from eight disciplines
on Thursday.
A batch of resident doctors,
who went to Gandhinagar and met Health Secretary S. K. Nanda, said he
has assured them that the MCI inspection will take place around May. Nanda
said he spoke to Municipal Commissioner P. Paneervel who informed him
that money for inspection of seven branches of the 12 has paid and that
money for the rest five will also be paid.
"Till then, there's ample
time for the corporation to prepare for whatever steps are required,"
said Nanda adding, "I have asked them to call off the strike because they
have been assured of the MCI inspection. Yet if they continue, it is not
much of a justification."
"They promised us orally
last year too, but nothing happened. Why don't they give it to us in writing?"
questioned the resident doctors. "If we run out of these drugs, we will
pool in money and buy more drugs," said another student.
