RSS cadre gets behind Modi to ensure victory
Thousands
of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh cadres are out on the streets in support
of chief minister Narendra Modis Hindutva plank with enhanced "vigour
and enthusiasm" this time. Mr Modi, a former pracharak, who enjoys
unflinching support from the RSS top brass, is finding himself very
lucky as after the VHP, which is already pitching in for him, the RSS
has come all out to support him for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Role of the RSS has always been critical for the BJP during each election
in the state, as the mother organisation of the party has made deep
inroads in every section of the Gujarat society. The mood is upbeat
at the RSS headquarters in Maninagar as cadres are geared up to defeat
anti-Hindutva forces in the state elections.
Top RSS functionary in the state Mukundrao Devbhankar says, "Sangh
has worked for the Hindutva cause since its formation. The only difference
this time is the swayam sevaks are working with more zeal especially
after the Godhra and Akshardham incidents."
The RSS held meeting of its state functionaries on last Saturday to
chalk out a strategy to influence the voting pattern in the state and
ensure high percentage of polling in all of its constituencies. According
to RSS sources, the Sangh has a very strong network in the state and
is readying its thousand-odd cadres to influence people across the cities
and villages. Though the cadres are reluctant to declare their strategy,
RSS sources said, "The RSS will do house-to-house campaign among
its targeted voters on Hindutva and ensure that everybody in their stronghold
votes. Swayam-sevaks have influence over a certain area as they are
involved in social and relief activity."
Prant karayawahak of RSS Pravin Maniyar said the RSS as an orgainastion
officially can not take part in the elections but its swayam sevaks
will work for Hindutva cause in the state. They will cast their votes
to those who are working for Hindutva cause, he added. The BJP with
the strong support of Sangh parivar cadres hopes to win the crucial
elections of the state Assembly.
