Ek bano, nek bano: Keshubhai gives new BJP slogan
BJP has fulfilled peoples aspirations and in fact has done better than Congress when 45 years of Congress rule is compared with 4 and a half years of BJP rule, former chief minister Keshubhai Patel said in a public function at Mehsana. Mr Patel launched the BJP election campaign from Mehsana on Thursday.

Speaking at a public rally after inaugurating the BJP election office for the Mehsana Lok Sabha and state Assembly constituency, he gave the slogan "Ek bano, nek bano (be one, be good)."

Mr Patel also went on to Siddhpur to inaugurate the election office of the BJP candidate, former water resources and Narmada minister Jaynarayan Vyas. Addressing a public rally there, he said efforts made by Mr Vyas were instrumental in getting a favorable Supreme Court verdict on the Narmada issue for the state.

Speaking at various public meetings including one in Kheralu, Mr Patel said security of the state is as important as its development.

Correlating the two parameters, he said a state will develop only if the law and order situation in the state is stable and industry and investors feel secure.

Talking about water availability in North Gujarat, he said more than 700 villages will get water after the Narmada canals work is complete. Highlighting the work done under the Gokul Gram scheme, Mr Patel said about 1.41 lakh of work projects have been done in about 18,000 villages.

While Congress merely announced 147 water supply schemes and completed only seven, BJP oversaw the implementation of all these schemes, he said.

Commenting on the infrastructure developed, he said the Mehsana-Ahmedabad highway and the rural roads were in good condition. He said while additional 1,400 MW of electricity has been generated, the demand has increased manifolds and promised that BJP will take steps to increase power supply.

Remarking that though Congress rules in 14 states, it has not been able to finish the 20-point programme announced by Mrs Indira Gandhi while the state had been ranked first as far as the implementation of the programme was concerned.
