Posters banned even on private Rajkot properties
No
political party will be allowed to display posters and banners in private
properties even if the owner is willing, Rajkot district collector Anita
Karval said this here to end the dispute of display of posters in properties
owned by private parties.
Ms Karval said in the case of the displaying banners and posters in
public property the political parties will have to take permission from
the district administration. The district collector office will decide
the rates of such display and it will be uniform through out the district.
She said that earlier the rule was political parties were allowed to
display banners and posters in private properties if the owner gives
permission. However, now the Election Commission has modified the rule
and display of banners is not allowed in private properties. The district
collector informed that eight companies of para-military forces will
accompany state police during elections in Rajkot district, while five
companies will help the state police in the rural areas. She also informed
that 50 per cent of polling staff will come from other districts to
monitor proceedings in the city elections.
