Gujarat puts police on high alert

The police in central and south Gujarat has been put on high alert after terrorist attack on Akshardham Swaminarayan temple in Gandhinagar on Tuesday evening.

The police is also on a lookout for terrorists after receiving specific information that some of them, apparently connected with the incident, had escaped. All the entry points have been secured and vital installations and religious places have been given security cover. Joint Commissioner of police P.C. Thakur said all the entry points of the city have been sealed and security has been beefed up.

He said, "We have already communicated with religious heads in the city and asked them to coordinate with the police to avoid any untoward incidents. We have also alerted industries, including Indian Petro Chemicals Ltd. and Gujarat State Fertilisers and Chemicals Ltd."
