Tight security on Godhra anniversary
A general alert has been given throughout the state for Thursday, the first anniversary of Godhra carnage. Police will be maintaining a strict watch especially in Godhra, Ahmedabad, Baroda and other riot-hit places.

Informing about the alert, director general of police K. Chakravarthy said police forces would be on a high alert from 8 am on Thursday and all reserves, SRPF and four RAF companies will be on standby.

All eyes would be on Godhra, where two functions to commemorate the anniversary have been organised by the VHP and the Shiv Sena. DSP Narshimha Komar said they have deployed available district police and four SRP companies in Godhra. Also four police inspectors and four sub inspectors have been called in from other districts to assist the bandobast.

On the very next day, Friday, which is the first anniversary of Gulbarg Society, Naroda Patiya, Best Bakery and all post-Godhra massacres police will also be on alert.

On Saturday, which is Mahashivratri and clashes with the India-Pakistan World Cup match, police will be on general alert in the state.

Elaborate security arrangements have also been made in Godhra and other parts of the state with Goverment Railway Police putting in additional efforts to not let the situation out of hand.
