Mallika goes for anticipatory bail plea
Mallika Sarabhai, director of Darpana Academy, has filed an anticipatory bail before the sessions court on Wednesday against the complaint filed by one Manushi Shah.

Advocate R.K. Shah filing the bail application on behalf of Ms Mallika stated in the application that the accusations of Manushi were false and baseless. Moreover, the bail application mentions that Rs 3.3 lakh was taken from each student of Darpana academy for the foreign trip. On cancellation of the scheduled trip, Rs 3.1 lakh was returned to every student whereas Rs 20,000, which was non-refundable amount and a mandatory fees for procuring visa, was not returned. Moreover, the charity commissioner and joint police commissioner P.C. Thakur earlier had probed the case where they didn’t find any discrepancies. The sessions court will decide on the bail application on October 24.

A complaint was filed by Manushi Shah, a member of Ms Sarabhai’s folk dance troupe which was scheduled to travel to USA and Brazil in February 2002. Each of the 13 members of the troupe had paid Rs 3.3 lakhs and the complaint alleged that only Rs 3.1 lakhs was refunded.
